Littleton Fire...Get it Together PDF Print E-mail

Littelton Fire...Get it together.  The services you provide is spotty & inconsistent.  Gotta tell yah, it appears you are a miss managed mess.

Starting Monday October 13th at 0800 LFR will be going full transport. The
Action Care contract has ended and the Rural Metro contract is still
pending. So for the next couple weeks you'll notice some changes on the
radio which include...

Medic 18 becomes Medic 16, plus Medic 12 & Medic 17 are going in service.

Rural Met contract
I would second what bullmaster said...the setup in Littleton with Rural Metro (and Action Care, before them) and LFD is ridiculous. Rural Metro isn't there to back up LFD or share the call load or whatever...they're there to do the transports that the LFD crews don't want to do. Sprained ankles and sick cases and the like. This makes LFD look ridiculous and is totally degrading to the Rural Metro crews (not to mention that it deprives LFD of revenue, but that's a side issue). I'm not even sure how they justify it to their patients. "Alright sir, we've got an ambulance on the way to take you to the hospital" "But...I thought you guys WERE the ambulance" "Yes sir, but...we called for another one. They'll be here in 10 or 15 minutes". Absurd.

Merge into South Metro Fire Rescue Authority, and your: Dispatch, Management, an Coverage should be addressed appropriately.

My 1st Guess...Littleton will loose the Highlands Ranch contract to SMFR, then the rest of the Littleton Department will have to follow.

I use to work in Littleon. I really don't think the problem will be solved with a few more ambulances and a number change. The big problem is ego. For the system to work that they have set up with a private company they have to be wiling to give up a call when they are to busy to handle it. thats the reason the private is there, not just to handle all the Bullxxxx they have. If they could learn how to run there system and use Rural Metro as a ALS ambulance no a Taxi the system would work better then most in the state. Until that happens Rural Metro, sorry guys, but your new contract will be a hard to keep staffed.

As I understood it those two medic units will be inservice IF they have the staffing. I hope they have enough personell to cover their district and the highway 85 corridor for SMFR as well. I will be driving the long way home to avoid this area of town.
